ATLANTA, GA. (January 23, 2006) - Red Bull sensation Casey Neal
took his first laps in a Star Mazda at Roebling Road racetrack
on January 21. Racers Edge Motorsports provided the opportunity
for the young 17 year-old High School Junior from Middletown,
Ohio, to commence his transition from karts to the opening rungs
of professional motorsports.
"I really want to thank Racers Edge for this great opportunity,"
said Neal. "They gave me more than 100 laps of flawless race car
and I was able to totally concentrate on learning the
performance capability of the Star Mazda. It was a thrilling day
for me."
Neal quickly got down to business as Jon Mirachi of Racers Edge
guided Neal up to speed without incident other than an
occasional spin. Neal responded with continued faster pace,
until he consistently set very competitive lap-times late in the
day.
"Casey clearly has an abundance of raw talent, he ended up
being the fastest driver we have ever worked with" said Mirachi.
"He was easily able to pick up on the changes to the car and
exploit them. He gave the team good feed back and responded well
to coaching. He is definitely ready to make the move up to cars
and given the opportunity, will have a bright future in racing
ahead of him."
Neal has created a stir in open-wheel racing with his
sensational performance to date. With limited experience in race
cars, Neal was able to win the U.S. Finals of the Red Bull
Driver's Search by winning all eleven of eleven sprint race
events conducted by Red Bull at Sebring last year. As a result,
he was chosen as one of two American drivers to represent the
USA in the Red Bull World Finals at Estoril. Now Neal looks to
focus his attention on racing in the USA with the Star Mazda
Series at the head of the list.
